"There is hope in dreams, imagination, and in the courage of those who wish to make those dreams a reality" Jonas Salk

Hello!

Things with the One Wish... Art project are going really well!

We would like to thank the many who have already donated materials and time to the project! Their names and donations are below!

Jen Tedesco--Thank you for the paint and brushes! It is exactly what we were looking for, and will work perfectly for this project!

Lowe's Oneida--Thank you for the boards of Luan and Hinges!

Bernie Gleeson--Thank you for your time picking up and delivering the boards and hinges!

We have great news, One Wish... will be shown and created during the The New York State Fair in the Arts and Home Center! More details to follow.

I found an article about  origin of wishing on a star, this is the article I found, (below) I hope you find it interesting and inspiring :)

The planet Venus is named for the Roman goddess of love and is always the brightest point in the sky. The Romans built temples to Venus, and since it was the first "star" that could be seen in the sky for much of the year, and always the brightest whether seen in the morning or the evening, it was an easy way to remember it as a prayer point. What is the #1 thing that people prayed to Venus for? Love, of course. The prayer evolved into a wish as people forgot the Goddess of Love and her origins, and the wish expanded into realms well outside the beginning point. Like so many other traditions and habits engrained in people that have found their way into modern religions, wishing upon a star evolved from an ancient pagan religion. Simple as that.

Thank you all for your support!

Happy Wishing,

Gina & Julia

**I wish for positive interactions as we begin this project!**

"We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish."
Anthony Robbins

Thanks for visiting our blog! Hopefully you remember us from last years Community Mandala Project! We're back and excited about bringing you a new project for this years Art Week in July! One Wish... is a conceptual community art project which will connect each community members wishes into many art pieces.

There are many ways to make a wish. People wish on; birthday candles, coins in fountains, genies in bottles, shooting stars and so much more. Call us superstitious but we think that releasing a wish can't hurt! Our project will let you do just that. We will install large wooden panels and you, the public will complete it by painting or drawing your wishes into the pattern. The result will be visually dynamic readable pieces of art! We begin creating this project during Art Week 2010. July 30-August 1 in Downtown Syracuse.

If you'd like to be involved, or donate supplies please contact us at ifyouhadonewish@gmail.com

Happy Wishing,

Gina & Julia
